In–Location Alliance

sensewhere is an active member of the rapidly growing Indoor Location Alliance who are working towards standardising the indoor location technology related ecosystems and associated services. The recently held ILA Plenary meeting hosted by the CSR in Sunnyvale, CA, USA mid–June welcomed over 60 participants from 32 companies from 13 different countries and, as said by sensewhere’s VP who attended the conference, it was a great success.
Demonstrations of sensewhere’s indoor location technology and related services will also take place at the upcoming ILA events in Europe and Asia during the latter part of this year.

This year’s Scotland’s Technology Show saw sensewhere along with hundreds of Scottish companies gather for business inspiration, networking and learning. The event was bursting with suppliers, customers, funding sources and industry leaders and, as a Scottish originated technology company, sensewhere is always very proud to be collaborating with its home–based fellow professionals. We were situated at stand 175 and warmly welcomed all for demonstrations and networking. You can view the gallery of pictures here.

Indoor positioning is a hot market, following recent industry acquisitions.

sensewhere has recently secured some editorial pieces in several publications.

An extensive report from Grizzly Analytics containing an in–depth analysis of over 50 indoor location companies included a study on sensewhere. The report published on a blog widely known for its indoor location focus, presented sensewhere in a very favourable light predicting huge growth and maturing of the indoor location area. The full report can be purchased here.
TechCrunch recently published an article about the acquisition of indoor location start–ups and its potential in the industry. You can read about indoor location start–ups, including sensewhere, Pole Star, WifiSlam, Skyhook and Pointinside competing at the top level here.
In June sensewhere was placed amongst world’s Leading indoor location technologies and recognised as “the next big thing” by Google’s Donald Dodge in his report blogged here.
Our LBS tracking and security application story (partnership with a major Brazilian insurance company) got picked up by PositionIT Magazine, the South African journal published six times a year. View the online version of the magazine here.
Our recent collaboration with the Directions Magazine editors resulted in a new interview exploring the ever-improving sensewhere software and its suitability to location-based advertising. It has been published in the online Directions Mag, so check out this link and find us on their Location Intelligence Channel and newsletter.
We also gave the StreetFight Mag a piece of hyperlocal expert advice. You can read about how “eye level is no longer buy level” on their blog here.

Securing more funding

Back in April sensewhere secured additional funding that is being used to help to leverage the potential of our software in today’s increasingly growing market of indoor positioning. Read about the funding and our latest EVK update in a recent press release on the wires.

Edinburgh getting ready for the Fringe Festival 2013

Candlemaker Row in Edinburgh is always a popular spot for photo taking. This cosy Old Town venue is home to Greyfriars Bobby, a well–known dog who, legend says, spent 14 years guarding the grave of his owner until he died himself in the 19th century.
In 1645 Edinburgh’s candle makers were required to settle together in a row, and hence the name of the street!

With the recent sunny spells and a vast range of café and bar terraces brought outside to enjoy the weather, it’s safe to say taking a stroll along Royal Mile will make anyone smile.

The Meadows – on sunny days and weekends this vivacious park located in the heart of the city attracts thousands of people daily. The park’s grass fields are covered with blankets, picnics and people jamming away on their bongos while enjoying a sunset. It certainly adds to the city’s vibrant nature and is a must for tourist visiting Edinburgh!
